Help Rebuild the SVMS Community Service Committee

Now that we can gather again for group service projects, SVMS is rebuilding the Community Service Committee. Community Service is the hallmark and cornerstone to a Catholic school education. It is our goal to continually open the students’ eyes to the needs in our community and the world.

This past Wednesday morning, we held an Interest Meeting for the middle school students in the hopes of creating a Student Community Service Club. The response was amazing and 67 students in 6th-8th grade signed-up.  If your child was absent and is interested, please let one of us know.

Our Middle School students will be actively engaged in the rebuilding and leadership of the committee and all students throughout the school will have many opportunities to participate. The parent volunteers will execute and moderate the service projects.  Our goal is to provide at least one hands-on project each month for a specific age group.

The first project will take place this Thursday, December 1st (early dismissal for conferences) for our first group of forty 6th-8th grade students.  We will make 200 sandwiches for the hungry and in need in Morris County to be distributed on Friday morning by the Sisters of Charity Outreach Office. Supplies and ingredients will be provided and funded by HSA. Elsewhere in this eNewsletter is the Sign-Up Genius for (40) middle school students.

In a few weeks, we will hold a parents meeting for the HSA Community Service Committee, so we can share our project ideas and plan the schedule for the school year.  It’s not too late to join this committee.  Parents who are interested can add their name to the HSA Community Service Committee at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050849a8ad2ea02-20222023

Looking forward to an exciting year sharing the love of SVMS with others!
