"My experience at SVMS was one of the more special ones in my life. I attended SVMS from Pre-K to 8th grade and graduated in 2013. Even after graduation, I came back as a high school leader for the Youth Ministry program. The Catholic foundation that SVMS laid down for me has stayed with me my entire life; I continued my education at Villa Walsh Academy and The Catholic University of America, now exercising the morals and lessons I've learned working at a non-profit in Alexandria, VA. Between the thrill of the Candy Cane Races at Christmas time, the joy of the Christmas and Spring concerts, and the camaraderie of basketball tournaments, it's hard to pinpoint exactly what my favorite experience was as an SVMS student. Maybe one of the most special aspects of SVMS was the incredible support and dedication of teachers at SVMS. From Pre-K all the way to grade 8, I had supportive teachers who genuinely wanted me to succeed and cultivate my passions that stay with me to this day. Between the hands-on lessons in STEM classes to the immersive history and social studies lessons, my education was shaped by the support of my energetic and enthusiastic teachers. The study of history and cultures in social studies during my time there actually influenced my decision to move to Washington, D.C. and minor in anthropology. I wouldn't be where I am today without the caring and encouraging environment that the teachers at SVMS created for me."
