SVMS has purchased
30 new Hewlett-Packard Dual Core workstations along with
flat screen monitors to update the PC Lab technology. These
machines will be running the latest in educational software, as well as the
Microsoft Office application suite which is the industry standard in
the majority of offices, schools and homes throughout the world.
Its
no wonder our state-of the-art computer lab is the envy of
the area schools!
We continue to invest in
upgrades to the schools technology infrastructure in order
to remain competitive and keep our ever-growing network safe
and secure. A
brand new Internet content filter will be installed in time
to service students for the coming year. A new HP server is
also on the way to store student and staff documents and
programs. We also purchased a laptop to manage the upgraded
sound system in the Gym.
With the purchase of 2
additional
SMART Boards by the
Home and School association, grades 1-6 now enjoy the
benefits of interactive learning. This continues to assure that the
students at SVMS are on the forefront of technology as it
relates to incorporating the classroom learning experience
with a critical understanding of information systems and
software.
A dedicated high-speed fiber-optic line
connects every computer in the school to the vast resources
of the World Wide Web! Of course all student-accessible
machines are continually monitored and content-filtered while students
are logged on.
There are few jobs in today's world that do
not involve some type of interaction with computers. St.
Vincent's investment in this crucial area will provide
students with an understanding of the same hardware and
software they will be using long afterward in future educational
and employment endeavors.
